Five Belgian artists in synergy take you deep into a colorful atmosphere. Their surprisingly different universes mixed together give life to a definitely original and enchanting psychedelic rock.
The band was born in May 2009 when the singer Irene Csordas and her musicians met at the Brussels Jazz Marathon. Soon, the five artists, culturally different and from various generations, compose their first song “Riding the Drag” as a tribute to 60′s Texas psyche-punk legends.
Irene Csordas (Vocals and keyboards), a singer of Hugarian origin, gives the first color. In addition to a womanís touch, she gives the band ideas and compositions with original lyrics. Simon Rigot (Keyboards / Indian Sitar, former Berntholer) and Flup’K Declerq (Bass , former Nervous Shakes) bring their many experiences. The influences of Hakim Rahmouni (guitarist) originary from Morocco, ranging from hard rock to funk. Merlin Fourmois on the drums supports a strong steady rhythm.
Inspired by vague memories of Radiohead, Muse, Gong, Portishead , Pink Floyd, Hawkwind , and of course indian classical music , the Narcotic Daffodils combine sensitivity and groove in their experimentations. Since its inception, the Belgian neo-psychedelic band have performed in 2010 at multiple gigs throughout Belgium in small and big venues and at big festivals , like the Kinky Star Ghent , Music Festival in Thuin, acoustic concert at the Magic Mirror in Brussels , the Place des Palais in front of the Royal Palace in Brussels.
In December 2010 , The Narcotic Daffodils became the 12th graduate of the Demo contest on Pure FM with “Happens all the time”. In the beginning of 2011 , after an epic Brassicole Festival at the University of Brussels , they were one of the few belgian bands to perform 2 nights in a row in two of the best rock clubs in London (UK) , at the “Blues Kitchen” in Camden on March 25th and at The “Prince Albert”in Brixton on March 26th , for the auto-cut demonstation after party . In May 2011 , they will be at their 3rd Brussels Jazz Marathon in a row. After the UK , the band will perform in Italy (Castel San Giovanniís Festival) and the Netherlands (“Female Rocks” in Eindhoven) and to the Brussels Summer Festival.
Recorded in Brussels and mixed in Italy by Paolo Negri, (The Link Quartet, Electric Swan , Wicked Minds …), “The Narcotic Daffodils” is now on iTunes and Cd will be released in may 2011 , labelled as the very first MusicBrussels CD with Fakto Records in Europe and itís Oh!Music in Japan. Band members collaborate with other bands for their uncommon skills, like Simon on the Link Quartet “4″ record with his indian Sitar , (on “Hammond beat records” in the US in March 2011) or on the Vogues “My Tailor is Rich” record with his Hammond organ (also released on Fakto Records in April 2011) . www.thenarcoticdaffodils.be
